Stylin' With Solid Kurtis

Colours and styles

In my opinion, neutral colours like Black, White or Beige can be styled in many ways and stand at the top of the list. Still, that's not to say that other colours won't be a good choice. Red, pink, indigo, blue, or cream are all options that you could consider to wear for your occasion... Some other neutral colours like Navy, Olive, Grey can be teamed up with vibrant colours like pink, yellow, and teal.

Any Kurtis like Up-down Kurti, Anarkalis, or Straight Suits, this is a must-have in your ethnic wardrobe. 

 

 

Style them with a Dupatta

Depending on the occasion, just style your solid colour Kurtis with simple or heavy dupattas. 

 

 

Any good heavy dupatta in the wardrobe can be paired to give a great ethnic look. Multi-coloured Phulkari dupatta or  Kantha stitch gives a vibrant look. Bandhani dupatta in any fabric can fit all kinds of occasions. 

 Being in a cold country, I had even tried velvet dupattas and Kashmiri shawls.

 I personally style Beige Kurtis with Banarasi dupatta to give a royal look. Not only will they fill the design box, but they will also give an ethnic look.

 

Shrugs Are Trending

If you are not a person to manage dupatta, then try with shrugs. Young mothers or teen girls can easily manage a hassle-free shrug.  The combo will let itself look very Indo- Western, and is perfect for small potlucks and get-togethers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

       Any contrast plain shrug will do, but if you want the real deal, a shrug with printed pattern or embroidery will look amazing.

 

 

 

 

Kurtis and Jackets

 

 

 Jackets can also do wonders to the simple Kurti, leaving it as Indo-Western as possible. Still, if you want a jacket that is more ethnic, the jackets can have Kalamkari prints or mirror work. During winters, a closed warm jackets with Kurtis helps from the cold breeze.

 

 

 

 Matching Bottoms

You can never go wrong when it comes to the bottom of Kurtis. Whether it's a plain and simple palazzo or a lehenga that has heavy embroidery, it always looks good. 

Kurtis with Lehengas is in trend. A brocade lehenga or a floral pattern gives a nice different look. 

Here you can see a few bottom designs to get an idea on the looks of Kurtis with different bottoms.

Try to pair with a plain palazzo for long Anarkali. Depending on the fabric, such combos can be worn for a wedding.

 

Dhotis with straight Kurti is the latest look that can get more compliments.
